DAZN looks to end the horrible 2020 with a bang with Lightweight prospect Ryan Garcia taking on Luke Campbell on the 26th of December a week after Gennadiy Golovkin (GGG) defends his title against Kamil Szeremeta on December 18th.
The dates are tentative as the Ryan Garcia clash will definitely clash with Christmas Celebrations and might not be too good to the event. However, the year has not really been an amazing one and Campbell fighting Garcia on that day sure aligns with how crazy the year has been.
Campbell (20-3, 16 KOs) is a great fighter and comes into the fight with a truckload of experiences, which might surely be a favourable boost when he collides with Garcia. However, Garcia has been able to point out that Campbell has had issues, when facing top fighters and that directly resulted to his losses to Jorge Linares, Vasily Lomachenko, and Yvan Mendy.
Garcia has been a little vocal about the rave of experience Campbell will be bringing to the fight and believes, if that’s really experience, then he wants nothing to do with that version of experience. Howbeit, Campbell has been in the ring with big names in the division and will be taking his knowledge with him when he goes to the ring.
Campbell did pick a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics but that seemed controversial in the eyes of Fans as they believe, the gold was given to them because they were from England and were given the nod despite looking bad in some of the fights.
Garcia has been vocal about his opinion on WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney and would like to fight Gervonta “Tank” Davis instead, if he should defeat Campbell in their upcoming fight. However, if Campbell comes out victorious in the fight, he might just go along with the World Boxing Council’s intentions of putting him against Haney.
