Highlights : Arsenal 0 – 3 Aston Villa, Premier League Recap 8th Nov, 2020

Arsenal FC welcomed Visitors Aston Villa to the Emirates stadium on Sunday evening but saw themselves in deep waters from the first minute as John McGinn’s opener in the first minute got controversially ruled out by VAR.

The Gunners saw their visitors control the game in the first 10 minutes and gradually grew into the game, taking possession but failed to even draw a save from Aston Villa No.1 Emiliano Martinez, even up to the 20th minute.

Owing alot of possession, Arteta’s men were expected to break through their Visitors defence but Villa were the most dangerous, saw the chance and took the opportunity. Ross Barkley tore apart the Arsenal defence with a pass and Matt Targett square-played the ball to Trezeguet, who made no mistake in putting the visitors ahead with a great finish.

Arsenal kept controlling the ball and holding more of the possession but failed to look dangerous in the final third. Villa continued to be very good defensively as their host kept the pressure coming.

Crosses and sneaking defence breaking passes weren’t enough to penetrate the Aston Villa defence as kept absorbing the pressure till the referee signalled the end of the of the first half.

Aston Villa never fringed on their intent as the kept being dangerous, forcing a save from Bernd Leno three minutes into the second half. Arsenal also came close to putting one in but Willian played the ball just wide of the post. Caballeros wasted another opportunity in the 55th minute.

Arteta’s men kept holding more of the possession and looked to be making more progress in the final third, only failing to be clinical with their opportunities. Rob Holding was the next to waste another clear cut opportunity after receiving a perfect ball from Gabriel in the 62nd minute.

Six minutes later, Nicholas Pepe was able to get himself two opportunities, one which drew a save from the Aston Villa no.1 but despite having little possession, the visitors still kept their composure and continued being dangerous in the final third.

Ollie Watkins made the lead two after a good build up from a clearance lands on Ross Barkley’s foot and he square plays the ball to Watkins, who makes no mistake from close range in the 72nd minute.

The game looked a lost for the Gunners as another close one was saved. Ross Barkley looking dangerous with his crossing. Sent in another and Jack Grealish almost finished that off but it got saved of the line in the 73rd minute.

Two minutes lated, another counter attack from was enough to make it three. Jack Grealish tore the Arsenal FC defence apart with a through ball to Ollie Watkins, who sent the ball past Bernd Leno, sealing the victory for the visitors.

Aston Villa could have made it for with Ross Barkley’s shot but the contender for “Man Of The Match” wasn’t able as his cross got deflected wide and another long range effort but Leno punched the ball back into play.

Arsenal remain with 11th on the Premier League table with 12 points after eight games, while Aston Villa climbs 6th with 15 points after a well deserved three points from the Emirates stadium.
