Anthony Joshua And Tyson Fury has been the most anticipated fight in the heavyweight division as all the belts in the division will be at stake in the clash but that doesn’t mean it has a sure probability of coming to fruition after a statement from Eddie Hearn.
Promoter Eddie Hearn, seriously believes Anthony Joshua (23-1, 21 KOs) won’t be sticking around and waiting for Fury, if he takes an interim fight before heading on with plans for their Unification fight which is a two fight contracted plan, scheduled for 2021.
Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) has planned taking a fight with either Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) or someone else before moving on with the unification plans with Joshua, who will also have to go through his IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev (28-1, 14 KOs) on Dec. 12th. However, Hearn wants Fury to get plans going immediately after Joshua fights Pulev or risk losing Joshua to other fights.
“I don’t know what’s happening with the Fury stuff,” said Hearn. “I saw comments yesterday from Frank Warren saying basically, ‘We couldn’t find the money to get Tyson Fury out this year.
“That’s a horrendous look because that’s your A-star fighter. You have to find a way to get him out. But now the courts are in a meeting are they. They have a couple of weeks to decide if he [Fury] has to honor the rematch.
“Arum is saying, ‘We’re very confident of our position. I hope they are because we’re [Joshua] not waiting for Fury to fight in March. If AJ beats Pulev, that’s our May fight or June fight at the latest.
Apart from Kubrat Pulev, Joshua still has a mandatory fight to grant his WBO mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk (18-0, 13 KOs) and failure to give that will result in him vacating the WBO title.
What exactly makes things worst for Joshua, is the fact that Fury is presently in a mediation with the Wilder team in the United States and if that ruling goes in Wilder’s favour, Fury will have no choice but to face the former WBC champion in March and Joshua will have to take care of Usyk or Vacate the WBO belt.
“We don’t want to wait around for him to have another interim fight,” said Hearn about him not wanting to wait for Fury to fight another interim match before fighting Anthony Joshua in 2021.
“The path was very clear. He was fighting on December 5th. He told everyone he was fighting no matter what, and then we’re fighting on December 12th and then fighting each other. It’s not, ‘we’ll fight on December 12th, and then you’ll fight in March and we’ll see what happens.
“We got the Usyk situation to sort out. As soon as we [Joshua] finish our fight, Usyk will be saying, ‘I’m mandatory now. Come on WBO, let’s go.’ So straight after our [Joshua vs. Pulev] fight, we need to know.
The present situation between Fury, Joshua and Wilder is in the hands of fate. Hearn and Joshua are not making things easy for themselves as their nagging is a sign of weakness and Hearn’s low confidence in Joshua. Joshua will have to let things play out as they presently don have much power over the preceding’s at the moment.
It’s definitely clear that Fury might not be able to beat Joshua in their Trilogy especially if he comes out early firing on the Brit and it’s no new news that Pulev even at 39 years, has better stamina than AJ. There is presently no guarantee that AJ will be victorious in his mandatory defense against Pulev and if he tires out in this one, Pulev Knocks him out.
