Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte was very critical of Daniel Dubois, accusing him of quitting against Joe Joyce in the tenth round of their British heavyweight championship fight, which took place on Saturday night at the SSE Arena in Wembley London.
Dubois who was tipped a heavy favourite and had an unbeaten record of 15 – 0 before the fight with Joyce , failed to deliver as expected and succumbed to Joyce, who pressured him while fighting behind his Jab. Joyce was able to take the best shots that Dubois had to offer, connecting many of his to earn the victory which made him the new British, Commonwealth and European Heavyweight Champion.
At the time of the stoppage, Dubois’s face was swollen and one of his eyes was almost swollen shot from taking Joyce’s jabs. Dubois took a knee and allowed the referee to count him out after taking a direct punch on the swollen eye.
Dubois claim to have lost his vision after getting hit by Joyce and didn’t know how severe the damage. Howevr, Dillian Whyte was very disappointed by that move and seriously criticized him for taking the knee and letting the referee count him out.
“They ain’t got nothing to say right now. Man’s out here quitting. Sh-t, man’s out here quitting in mid-fight,” Whyte said on Instagram.
Whyte sure seemed offended from Frank Warren, who claimed to be seriously advocating for a fight between Dubois and the “Body Snatcher”.
“They were saying they wanna fight me and they were gonna knock me out. One thing with me, no quit, straight warrior. If I’m losing, I’m getting knocked out. Straight warrior, straight warrior. And these cowards wanna mention [me]…. f–king fish eyes and Daniel Dubois.”
Dillian Whyte was knocked out by former WBA Heavyweight Champion Alexander Povetkin in his last outing and a rematch scheduled to take place on November 21st was postponed after the Russian returned a positive COVID 19 Result.
