Daniel Jacobs Looking Past Gabriel Rosado, Wants Canelo – Smith Winner

Daniel Jacobs Media day

Daniel Jacobs, who faces Gabriel Rosado this coming weekend, is already looking forward to a possible clash with the Winner of the Championship fight between Canelo Alvarez and Callum Smith, which takes place on the 19th of December.

Jacobs, nicknamed “The Miracle Man” is already looking past Rosado (25-12-1, 14 KOs) and wants to land a fight with Canelo-Smith winner which with Odds and statistics, could be Canelo, who defeated him with a 12 round unanimous decision last year.

Canelo (53-1-2, 36 KOs) presently has a blur future at super middleweight and hasn’t fully committed to any specific fight after taking on the unbeaten WBA Super World super middleweight champion Callum (27-0, 19 KOs) at the Alamodome, San Antonio TX. There is a big possibility, he will be facing former Middleweight king Gennadiy (GGG) Golovkin in May during the Cinco de Mayo weekend.

Jacobs (36-3, 30 KOs) has promised to keep a close eye on Canelo-Smith fight, though not pointing out who exactly he expects to come out victorious, he has set his sight at winning a world title at super middleweight.

“I would love the winner of that fight, and I feel the winner would be the best man,” said Jacobs when asked if he’d like to fight the winner of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Callum Smith fight.
“This is boxing. No one ever knows. This is a situation where you have both guys in their prime. It’s going to be hard to tell [who wins Canelo-Smith].
“I’m going to be watching with an invested eye, but I also have a mark to make on Friday night, and after this, I can put myself in a position to fight the winner of this or put myself in the position to fight for a world championship in general, that’s what I’m going after.

A Canelo rematch with Jacobs is presently not the most appealing fight as they both have taken different roads, when it comes to opposition. Canelo continually takes risk and has shown in his recent fights against Sergey Kovalev at Light heavyweight, having taken over the middle weight division. Jacobs on the other hand, has taken on very poor opponents since moving up to Super middleweight with fights against Rosado and Chavez Jr.

Canelo Alvarez Defeats Daniel Jacobs by Unanimous Decision

For a fight between Canelo and Jacobs to be appealing, the later will have to take in the Who is Who of the super middleweight division, which includes Edgar Berlanga, David Benavidez, Caleb Plant, and Callum Smith. Jacobs has taken a soft approach while trying to land a Canelo fight and that won’t be favourable to the Mexican’s reputation, if he decides to grant Jacobs a rematch.

The fight between Rosado and Jacobs will be the main event on Friday night on November 28 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida.
