Amir Khan Tips Kell Brook To Upset Terence Crawford, End His Reign
November 11, 2020
Amir Khan has been long linked with an all British, Fan loving fight with Kell Brook, which according to the former champ, will make more sense the former IBF welterweight champion is able to defeat Terence Crawford in their upcoming fight this weekend.
Crawford will go into the fight as a huge favourite. However Khan, believes his British rival can shock the boxing world by upsetting the odds by ending the pound for pound entrant’s title reign.
The Pound for Pound claimant from Omaha, Nabraska, will be defending his WBO welterweight title against England’s Brook in the main-event of an ESPN televised fight card taking place at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas. Those in the UK will view the fight on Premier Sports in the early hours of Sunday.
“Obviously, I know he’s got his hands full against Terence Crawford,” Khan told SecondsOut.com during an interview posted Saturday to its YouTube channel. “So, he’s gonna be busy with that fight. And we wish him nothing but the best. I wish Kell all the very best. And, you know, go out there and, you know, put a stop to his reign. And he can do that.
Khan also made clear, he will lay aside the differences with Brook and show support for him as he believes every other British fighter will do, ones he steps into the ring against Crawford this coming weekend.
“You know, Kell’s a good fighter and I’ve always respected him. Look, as a Brit, we have to support our own fighters and we have to support each other. And even though we’ve not looked eye-to-eye for many years, but look, end of the day I am gonna be rooting for him.”
Brook, who is a year older than Crawford, 33 has not competed in the welterweight division since getting knocked out in the eleventh round by Errol Spence Jr. (26-0, 21 KOs) at Bramall Lane in his home town, back in 2017.
Crawford has been tipped a 14-1 favourite to win the fight and is expected to dominate and possibly stop Brook as he has stopped each of his first four opponents in the weight class since making his debut. His third victory was a sixth round TKO victory over Amir Khan.
