Gennadiy Golovkin Vs Kamil Szeremeta Date Shifted To June 6th
IBF middleweight champion Gennadiy (GGG) Golovkin (40-1-1, 35 KOs) will be defending his title against Mandatory Challenger Kamil Szeremeta (20-0, 5 KOs) on June 6th at the Forum Inglewood California as reported by Dan Rafael.
The event is still under probability as it could still be postponed due to the a possible ban by the California State Athletic Commission which plans to ban all combat sport till June and as of March a one month ban was place due to the COVID 19
GGG has had some bad luck concerning his intended defence against Szeremeta. Firstly, the oppositions doesn’t have a huge resume and big names as compared to Golovkin, who faced almost all the big names in middleweight and secondly, he is suffering from a calf injury which has led to the fight being postponed from the initial April 29th date and moved to March, April and now June.

GGG’s team had taken the fight earlier than they should as the IBF didn’t even order the fight before they took the fight and since then, it has been on his neck and right now all we could think of is another postponement.
It could have been a good idea to defend the title in his home town of Kazakhstan as there a very few cases of Corona Virus in Kazakhstan which was just six as at Friday.
Golovkin would like to defend his title by June in order to set straight paths to a possible trilogy with Canelo Alvarez in September and that will mean, him going into the trilogy with a belt but if the fight date gets postponed again, he will need to vacate the belt in-order not to put the Canelo Alvarez trilogy in Jeopardy.
