Canelo Alvarez and his team have been working out a possible fight with IBF mandatory challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko and according to sources, their purse bid scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed.
Canelo Alvarez and his team canceled his September 14 date in order to get more negotiation and preparation time for a high ranking opponent. Golden Boy and the Canelo team are keen on making a mandatory defense against Derevyanchenko and have been locked on in negotiations with his promoter Lou DiBella.

Canelo Alvarez was planning to move up two weight classes to face WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (33-3-1, 28 KOs) on the canceled date but failed to come to an agreement early with the Russian and his team. Hence, he will be making a mandatory defense against Anthony Yarde (18-0, 17 KOs).
Canelo Alvarez wow the IBF middleweight title by defeating Daniel Jacobs via unanimous decision and will be striped of the title, if he fails to come to an agreement for the mandatory defense against Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
The ones beaten Derevyanchenko (13-1, 10 KOs) lost a split decision in his first title fight against Daniel Jacobs and has since rebounded with a unanimous decision victory over Ecuador’s Jack Culcay (26-4, 13 KOs) in April.
