Keith Thurman will be defending his WBA Welterweight title for the first time in two years against Josesito Lopez (36-7, 19KOs) airing live on Fox from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
In the Co-main event Gerald Washington will take on tough polish sensation Adam Kownacki in a 10 round heavyweight battle as both will look to propel themselves into heavyweight limelight.
Thurman – Lopez Round By Round
Round 5 – No urgency from Thurman, simply dominating his return to the ring. An attack by Lopez to Thurmans body is returned by a crashing left hook. A sharp 1-2 by Thurman right on the bell looked to shake Lopez. 10-9 Thurman.
Round 3: Thurman looking very good. Jabbing, moving, landing body shots. No apparent problems with elbow. He’s up 30-26.
Round 2, Thurman ups the pace, dropping Lopez with a left hook. Lopez pops back up, but fortunate to be possible saved by the bell.
Round 1. Thurman looking real good in there. Doesn’t seem like he has missed a beat. Josesito being a little more cautious but has landed on Thurman. Really good round.
