Canelo Alvarez Def. Gennady (GGG ) Golovkin Via Decision To Take WBA, WBC and IBO Middleweight Titles

Canelo Alvarez won a decision over former middleweight unified champion Gennady Golovkin taking his WBA, WBC and IBO middleweight titles to become the New middleweight King on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.

Canelo Alvarez And GGG slugged it out in the center of the ring through out the fight. Canelo Alvarez was the aggressor for most if the fight, while GGG who started out slow with the jab,  became more aggressive in the last three rounds.

The judges scored the fight 7 rounds and 5 for GGG with scores 114-114, 115-113, 115-113, Glenn Feldman had it even (114-114) while Moretti and Weisfeld each scored the fantastic fight 115-113 for Alvarez.

Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs) came in as an underdog for the fight, but was able to end the longest championship reignrin boxing history, which also prevented Golovkin from breaking Bernard Hopkins’ record for consecutive middleweight title defenses.
