WBO featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson made a successful 130 pound debut against Felix Caraballo, working him down to a sixth round stoppage victory in a non title fight at the MGM Grand Conference Center on Tuesday night.

Stevenson toyed with his opponent, breaking him down with every shot before, eventually ending the fight with a big body shot in the sixth round. The shot sent Caraballo to his knees and his gloves on the canvas and while stuck there because of the pains, the referee Tony Weeks was forced to end the fight at exactly 1:31 of the sixth.

With the win, the 2016 silver medallist Stevenson retained his unbeaten record and improved to (14-0, 8KOs). Stevenson was placed a 100-1 favourite, heading into the fight and he proved right the bookmarkers by winning all the five rounds (50-44, 50-44, 50-43) before the stoppage, dropping Caraballo (13-2-2, 9 KOs) twice in the first round…

Roman (Chocolatito) Gonzalez confirmed his championship capabilities with a ninth round knockout victory over Kal Yafai to win the WBA super Flyweight title on Saturday night on Mikey Garcia vs Jessie Vargas Undercard at the Ford Centre.

2½ years from his brutal Knockout loss in the hands of Sor Rungvisai, Chocolatito blasted Yafai with a right hand that sent the champion to the canvas and left him barely unable to beat the referees count in the ninth round of their scheduled 12 round fight.

The second half of the fight was largely one sided as Yafai was so fatigued and was barely able to hold on with Gonzalez unslaught continuously coming after sensing a knockout around the champ Yafai.

Gonzalez gradually broke down Yafai that at the eight round Yafai was wobbled by every shot and was even sent to the canvas before the end of the round.

Both fighters got involved in an accidental head clash that left a cut on Gonzalez's head but that didn't deter him from drilling Yafai with some serious body shots that forced the champ into using some clinching tactics.
