WBO featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson made a successful 130 pound debut against Felix Caraballo, working him down to a sixth round stoppage victory in a non title fight at the MGM Grand Conference Center on Tuesday night.

Stevenson toyed with his opponent, breaking him down with every shot before, eventually ending the fight with a big body shot in the sixth round. The shot sent Caraballo to his knees and his gloves on the canvas and while stuck there because of the pains, the referee Tony Weeks was forced to end the fight at exactly 1:31 of the sixth.

With the win, the 2016 silver medallist Stevenson retained his unbeaten record and improved to (14-0, 8KOs). Stevenson was placed a 100-1 favourite, heading into the fight and he proved right the bookmarkers by winning all the five rounds (50-44, 50-44, 50-43) before the stoppage, dropping Caraballo (13-2-2, 9 KOs) twice in the first round…

Former Four division champion Mikey Garcia bounced back from his first careers loss with a 12 round unanimous decision victory over former WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas on Saturday February 29th at the Ford Centre.

Garcia, who was totally dominated in his first fight at Welterweight after moving two weight classes up to face Pound For Pound entrant Errol Spence, proved he was capable of facing tough oppositions and bigger fighters at 147 despite the disparity in Jessie Vargas and Errol Spence.

Garcia started the fight slow and was mostly out-boxed by Vargas in the early rounds but after the scoring a knockdown in the fifth round,Garcia controlled the fight till the final bell and the bigger Vargas showed some balls remaining on his feet till the final bell.

The Oxnard California native Garcia (40-1, 30 KOs) was fighting for the first time since his loss to Errol Spence almost a year ago. A fight that saw him lose all the rounds on scorecards to the IBF/WBC welterweight champion at the AT&T Stadium on March 16th last year.

Garcia also admitted to planning a move back to 140 pounds before securing a high profile fight with Jessie Vargas and had only accepted the fight due to zero options at 140.

Vargas started the first round great with connecting a left hand and a left hook before the end of the first round. Vargas continued his dominance in the second, connecting a right hand just 43 seconds into the second and and a counter left hand later in the round. However, before the end of the second round Garcia connected a right hand that knocked Vargas off balance.

A straight right hand by Garcia connected in Vargas in the opening minute of the third round and a left hook drilled into Vargas later in the round. Garcia landed an over-right hand before being sent to the ropes with a straight right hand before the end of the round.

Garcia added some fire to the fight which was basically even from the third round when he landed a right-hand to Vargas's head in the fifth round, making his legs quake 49 seconds remaining in the fifth round and while running away from an aggressive Garcia was met with a perfect right that sent him sitting in his trucks 41 minutes remaining in the fifth round. Vargas responded with a grin, slowly got up and almost couldn't beat the count.

Garcia tried to score another knock down in the sixth but Vargas, who was staggering due to the knockdown, avoided engaging and despite connecting a few right hands,Garcia just couldn't drop him again.

From then on was Garcia's show, backing him up a couple of times and forcing him to cover up with a couple of flurries and just as the previous, Garcia backed Vargas up with a stiff jab. In the Eleventh round, Vargas connected a right hand that forced Garcia into the back-foot and Garcia responded with a right hand of his before the end of the round.

In the final round , Garcia blasted Vargas with a left hook in the final round but that didn't hurt much as Vargas came back to land a right before the final bell.
