WBO featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson made a successful 130 pound debut against Felix Caraballo, working him down to a sixth round stoppage victory in a non title fight at the MGM Grand Conference Center on Tuesday night.

Stevenson toyed with his opponent, breaking him down with every shot before, eventually ending the fight with a big body shot in the sixth round. The shot sent Caraballo to his knees and his gloves on the canvas and while stuck there because of the pains, the referee Tony Weeks was forced to end the fight at exactly 1:31 of the sixth.

With the win, the 2016 silver medallist Stevenson retained his unbeaten record and improved to (14-0, 8KOs). The International Boxing Federation has scheduled the date January 24th for the official purse bid for the mandatory fight between Champion Josh Taylor and Apinun Khongsong after Samson Boxing Promotion on behave of their client called for an immediate purse bid as the negotiations seem to be progressing negatively.

Josh Taylor holds the IBF and WBA world titles at junior welterweight and will be preparing for his first fight since signing with Top Rank. The purse bid will take place at Springfield, New Jersey and all parties to be involved in the Bid will arrive the venue at noon.

according to IBF rules 65% of the purse bid will go to the champion while 35% will go to the challenger and the fighter will both submit a check which represents 10% of the total purse bid, while the winning promoter will also forward another check representing 10% of the purse bid within five working days following the purse bid.

Khongsong (16-0, 13 KOs) has basically fought all of his fights in Thailand and has knocked out his last six opponents, his last was a second round knock out victory in July 2019. He has seen won the IBF Pan Pacific Junior Welterweight title in 2017 and IBF Asia super lightweight title but Khongsong will be facing the first fighter on Josh Taylor's experience.

Josh Taylor picked up a twelve round majority decision over undefeated Regis Prograis to unify the IBF and WBA junior lightweight titles in the World Boxing Super Series Finals in October. This capped a very big 2019 after earlier defeating another unbeaten titlist Ivan Baranchyk via a dominant unanimous decision to clinch the IBF title in the WBSS semi finals.
