WBO featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson made a successful 130 pound debut against Felix Caraballo, working him down to a sixth round stoppage victory in a non title fight at the MGM Grand Conference Center on Tuesday night.

Stevenson toyed with his opponent, breaking him down with every shot before, eventually ending the fight with a big body shot in the sixth round. The shot sent Caraballo to his knees and his gloves on the canvas and while stuck there because of the pains, the referee Tony Weeks was forced to end the fight at exactly 1:31 of the sixth.

With the win, the 2016 silver medallist Stevenson retained his unbeaten record and improved to (14-0, 8KOs). Stevenson was placed a 100-1 favourite, heading into the fight and he proved right the bookmarkers by winning all the five rounds (50-44, 50-44, 50-43) before the stoppage, dropping Caraballo (13-2-2, 9 KOs) twice in the first round…

Key Moments Recap :
Goal : 25' 0 - 1 Thembi Kgatlana
Thembi Kgatlana, the 23-year-old who won the Golden Ball and the Golden Boot at the Africa Cup of Nations last year, has just chipped the Spanish keeper from about 25 yards out.
She steps onto her right then curls it into the corner and Sandra Panos is scrambling and doesn't make it.
Banyana Banyana are on cloud nine! What an incredible moment.

Goal : 25' 0 - 1 Thembi Kgatlana
Cool as you like. The Spanish league's top scorer slots it to the left, sending the keeper the wrong way.
Coach Jorge Vilda lets out several fist pumps and looks slightly more relieved.

RED CARD - Nothando Vilakazi

Goal : 83' Jennifer Hermoso (pen.) 2 - 1
Were there any doubts? Jenni Hermoso goes the other way, striking it to the keeper's left. It's not a clean hit but there's enough power to beat keeper Andile Dlamini.

Goal : .89' Lucia Garcia 3 - 1
Route one football, this. It's threaded straight down the middle for substitute Lucia Garcia to chase, she beats the defender, rounds the keeper and slots it into an empty net.
A big moment for the youngster but there's tears from some of the South African fans. Football can be so, so cruel.
