WBO featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson made a successful 130 pound debut against Felix Caraballo, working him down to a sixth round stoppage victory in a non title fight at the MGM Grand Conference Center on Tuesday night.

Stevenson toyed with his opponent, breaking him down with every shot before, eventually ending the fight with a big body shot in the sixth round. The shot sent Caraballo to his knees and his gloves on the canvas and while stuck there because of the pains, the referee Tony Weeks was forced to end the fight at exactly 1:31 of the sixth.

With the win, the 2016 silver medallist Stevenson retained his unbeaten record and improved to (14-0, 8KOs). Stevenson was placed a 100-1 favourite, heading into the fight and he proved right the bookmarkers by winning all the five rounds (50-44, 50-44, 50-43) before the stoppage, dropping Caraballo (13-2-2, 9 KOs) twice in the first round…

Mikey Garcia Def. Sergey Lipinets : Becomes  Fourth Division Champion
(IBF junior welterweight title
11/3/2018

VENUE
Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio

RESULTS
Mikey Garcia (39-0, 30 KOs) not only became a fourth division boxing champion but was the first person to drop former IBF junior welterweight title holder from Kazakhstan’s Lipinets (13-1, 10 KOs) winning all three score cards - Judges Mark Calo-oy (116-111), Julie Lederman (117-110) and Nelson Vazquez (117-110).

Mikey Garcia has been very impressive at 140 and this is his second victory against a top 140 pounder, the first was former four-division champ Adrien Broner (33-3, 24 KOs, 1 NC), which he outboxed back in July.

Lipinets actually had some clean shots on Garcia but the new champion was able to take it all in even till the end, his upper cuts, left hooks didn't seem to hurt Garcia at all.

In the seventh round, Lipinets was floored for the first time in his entire career by a left hook from Garcia in the 1.46 mark of the seventh round but the former Champ was able to move on, holding on to the end.

POST  FIGHT COMMENTS

Mikey Garcia  : “Winning this fourth world title, in a fourth division, it’s an honor to get to be mentioned with the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez,” Garcia told Showtime’s Jim Gray in the ring. “It’s just a huge honor for me. I’m very grateful for everything that’s happening to me right now. I’m just very excited, very emotional right now.”

“He came in exactly as I expected – very tough, very determined, very hungry,” Garcia said. “He’s a strong fighter and we had to work with angles, footwork, behind the jab, because we knew that he was gonna be there for a long night. We knew he was very determined, and he’s very dangerous with that overhand right and those left hooks. So we had to be very careful, but we had a great game plan and we were able to prevail.”
