WBO featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson made a successful 130 pound debut against Felix Caraballo, working him down to a sixth round stoppage victory in a non title fight at the MGM Grand Conference Center on Tuesday night.

Stevenson toyed with his opponent, breaking him down with every shot before, eventually ending the fight with a big body shot in the sixth round. The shot sent Caraballo to his knees and his gloves on the canvas and while stuck there because of the pains, the referee Tony Weeks was forced to end the fight at exactly 1:31 of the sixth.

With the win, the 2016 silver medallist Stevenson retained his unbeaten record and improved to (14-0, 8KOs). Stevenson was placed a 100-1 favourite, heading into the fight and he proved right the bookmarkers by winning all the five rounds (50-44, 50-44, 50-43) before the stoppage, dropping Caraballo (13-2-2, 9 KOs) twice in the first round…

Cris Cyborg And Yana Kunitskaya To Headline UFC 222

Cris Cyborg And Yana Kunitskaya To Headline UFC 222
9/2/2018

UFC 222 card has finally be made complete by the addition of UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg (18-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Invicta FC bantamweight champ Yana Kunitskaya (10-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC), with Kunitskaya set to make her UFC debut.

The event had almost gotten to a stand still last week when the initial headliner got  removed as Max Holloway pulled out of the event due to injury and since then, the UFC found it difficult or replacing it and even almost thought of postponing the event before the Cyborg - Kunitskaya Fight got the nod.

Ex-lightweight champ Frankie Edgar (22-5-1 MMA, 16-5-1 UFC) and surging contender Brian Ortega (13-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) had already stepped up to cover up for injured champ Max Holloway (19-3 MMA, 15-3 UFC) and the fight will join the  Cyborg - Kunitskaya in Co-headlining the event.

Yana Kunitskaya had originally been booked to face Leah Letson in her octagon debut at the event after initially announcing a fight with Sara McMann for UFC on FOX 28 and instead got lucky for an upgrade before even making a debut.

Kunitskaya will be going in as an underdog, because Cris Cyborg had seriously beaten up Tonya Evinger, who was the last to defeat her, back in 2017 to claim the then vacant UFC women’s featherweight belt.
