Lionel Messi Still Hopes To Play For Boyhood Club, Newell's Someday


Barcelona Forward Lionel Messi has not killed off dreams of playing for rhizomes boyhood club Newell's, which he admits, amid speculations he will be moving away from Barcelona soon.

His contract at Nou Camp expires at the end of the season and clubs desperate for his services could start making talks by early next year.

Despite having a desire to play for Newell's he still admits that he is uncertain of his future right now and won't be able to point exactly where he would be in the future.

"The desire is always playing for Newell's, it is what I dreamed as a kid," Messi told Argentine channel TyC Sports.

"When I went to the club I imagined playing in the Primera Division, but I do not know what's going to happen in a few years.

"I cannot say I'm going back because I do not know where I'm going to be."

Lionel Messi was the key factor in Argentina's qualification to the 2018 World Cup but he would really like to avoid France, Spain, Germany and Brazil in the group stages of the competition.

"I wouldn't like to be drawn against Spain, who are one of the rivals we could get in the draw," Messi said.

"For all that they stand for, for all that they have, I'd rather avoid them. They'd be a very difficult rival."
