WWE Lagendary Commentator Lance Russell Dies At 91

WWE is sad to announce the death of their Legendary announcer Lance Russell. Russell passed away at the age of 91 today, 20 years after his retirement from the his profession as an announcer in the WWE.

During his career he was a host to. Many notable shows which includes Continental Wrestling Association’s weekly Saturday morning show held at WMC’s TV studios, the Mid-South Coliseum cards each Monday night and also dropped one of the best commentary for Memphis’ most famous matches.

He started his career in the 1950's and lasted almost 40 years in the business of commentary till his retirement in 1997, he also in a short period commentated in WCW from 1989 to 1992. Notable for his grand introduction into big fights, you will feel the fight before it starts.

He had grown to be a TV icon, amongst the best and his no non sense attitude towards rule breakers was mind blowing, he remained a consummate moral compass. Voicing out his dislike when Austin Idol and “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart did those notable dirty deeds.

He created a good relationship with the fans and almost became as important to them as the matches themselves. Friends Fans, WWE stars contemporaries and admirers have taken to Twitter to voice their grief over the death of "Voice of Memphis Wrestling."
