Tony Ferguson has slammed his opponent in the UFC 216 headliner Kevin Lee for being fake though he is impressed his guts to face him in the UFC event.

Tony Ferguson (22-3 MMA, 12-1 UFC) meets Kevin Lee (16-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) in the UFC 216, taking place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and UFC Fight Pass, an interim UFC lightweight Championship Fight.

He believes he has been doing things the right way in the Octagon, that why he has been able to mount on such incredible grounds in the division having defeated prominent names in his nine Fight winning streak which includes ex-champion Rafael dos Anjos, Edson Barboza and Josh Thomson, but can't see his opponent Kevin Lee the same way.

“I’m not fake, and I see this guy as fake,” Ferguson told MMAjunkie at today’s UFC 216 media day. “He’s trying to be something that he’s not. I know where you come from. I lived in the suburbs (of Michigan), too. Trust me, I know. We have people around the block. I don’t have to be fake. I’m probably one of the most real guys.”

Ranked No. 3 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA lightweight rankings, he stands a chance of facing Conor McGregor (21-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) title-unification match , if he can get through the No. 8th ranked Kevin Lee.

“I don’t like red panties. I like blue panties,” Ferguson said. “He’s got to defend or vacate. He’s going to have to fight me. There’s no insider information. He’s never spoken my name. I’m one of the most ruthless vatos out there. This guy, he doesn’t want a part of me. I’m not aiming at him. I don’t give two (expletives).

“I don’t want to fight someone who doesn’t want to fight me or compete against some of the best. When you’re saying, ‘I’ll fight anybody, anytime.’ You’re (expletive) full of (expletive). For me, I’ve been fighting anybody, any time, any weight – straight up.”
