Floyd Mayweather returned from a two year retirement to face the UFC star which he KO'd in the 10th round in a last month's Showtime Pay-Per-View event which carried a high pay-per-view price tag of $100 for HD.

Oscar feels Floyd Mayweather allowed McGregor to win the early rounds, making him feel at home then attacking mildly from the fourth to keep the fight more competitive.

“I was pissed because Mayweather knows better than that. He’s one of the best boxers on the planet today that we’ve had in the past several years. But come on, knock the guy out in two or three rounds. Don’t carry him for ten rounds,” De La Hoya told Hot 97.

From my perspective which I feel I should tip in - I believe that Mayweather was only playing McGregor's weakness of not being able to go long rounds, thereby kill him slowly from within then when he saw him finished he stopped the fight.

Oscar de La Hoya is 44 years now but believes that if he prepares right, he could stop McGregor in just two rounds despite being inactive since 2008.

“Yeah [I would beat McGregor]. It can’t go more than two rounds,” De La Hoya said.

After absolutely saying he could stop McGregor in six minutes, he also demoted Floyd Mayweather in his his Best Ever list though crediting him as one of the best in recent years but He could only be in the top 10 not in the top 5.

“My question is this - when was Mayweather in a 50-50 fight? That’s my critique. Is he the best boxer we’ve had in recent years? Yeah. He’s obviously not the best. I think he would be top 10 of all-time [but not in the top 5 of the all-time],” De La Hoya said.

Oscar De La Hoya and his Promotion are now busy preparing to stage their fight Canelo Alvarez against IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, on September 16th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
