Former World Boxing Champion, An Icon and Boxing Legend Wladimir Klitschko retires from Boxing ending the prospect of a rematch with Anthony Joshua..

Klitschko (64-5, 54 KOs) had accumulated three of the Four World Titles available in his division during his undefeated years and in his years as a boxer has featured in 69 Profesional fights in 21 years.

The Ukrainian went 11 years without defeat before his points loss to Tyson fury back in 2015, then flooring the present Champion Anthony Joshua before his getting knocked out in the 11th round at Wembley in June. He was due to face AJ again in November 11 this year for a rematch which was an option attached to his first Bout that saw him lose all his titles.


Former World Champion Wladimir Klitschko Said in a statement : "I deliberately took a few weeks to make my decision, to make sure I had enough distance from the fight at Wembley Stadium.

"As an amateur and a professional boxer, I have achieved everything I dreamed of, and now I want to start my second career after sports.
"I would have never imagined that I would have such a long and incredibly successful boxing career. I'm very thankful for this. Thanks to everyone who has always supported me, especially my family, my team and my many fans."


Reflecting on his defeat in June, Klitschko

"I never thought I would say such a thing, but: in defeat, I achieved much greater success than I would have had I won.

"Fans and sports enthusiasts worldwide are celebrating my performance and showing me their appreciation. Even my opponent expressed his respect for me."

Longtime Klitschko Manager Bernd Boente said.

"Especially after this terrific fight at Wembley Stadium it was a very tough decision for Wladimir to make,"

"But he has always emphasized that he wanted to retire if he didn't have enough motivation anymore. Therefore this is definitively the right decision. Wladimir accomplished everything in his unique boxing career. He dominated the heavyweight division for over a decade.
