Christiano Ronaldo Wins UEFA Men's Player of the Year

Portugal and Real Madrid Star Christiano Ronaldo has been won the UEFA Men's Player of the Year, after a very successful 2016/2017 season with Real Madrid and Portugal. 

The Ceremony which was held on Thursday in Nyon, Switzerland had the four time Ballon D'Or winner beat off Lionel Messi and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, to win the Award.

Ronaldo, who scored twice in the UEFA Champions League Final against Juventus in May, scored beyond the 100 goal mark in the UEFA Champions League. Also in the International scene, he helped his country win the European championship.

The Portuguese received the award UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and promised to keep up with the good standard.

"Every year is the same challenge - to win everything, if possible," he said. "With my club, the international team, we are not qualified [for the World Cup] yet, we have that to do.

"I'm so glad to be here and win this trophy again. I have to say thank you to my team-mates, I'm so happy for them too."

He also received the Forward of the Year award after claiming his fourth Champions League title.
