Bayern Munich Technical Director Heads To Stuttgart As Sporting Director

Bayern Munich has announced the departure of their Technical Director Michael Reschke to Stuttgart to take up a new role as Sporting Director at the end of August.

The 59 year old, was appointed after the sacking of Jan Schindelmeiser as technical director on Friday.

"We didn't want to deny Michael Reschke the chance to become VfB Stuttgart's Sporting Director," CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said. "On behalf of Bayern Munich, I thank Michael Reschke for his excellent work in the past three years.

"With his expertise, professionalism and network, he has played an important part in Bayern's success. I wish him all the best for his future."

Speaking of his time in Bayern Munich, Reschke said "The open and trusting working relationship with Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has shaped me. Through this, I've made new and valued experiences.

"I highly appreciate that and want to thank them both. I've worked fantastically together with Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola, the players, colleagues and employees. I want to thank them too.

"It's a shame that I will no longer have the opportunity to work together with the new sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. I have a very good and friendly relationship and respect him a great deal. But in life there are opportunities and challenges that you must accept. The opportunity to become Sporting Director at VfB Stuttgart is such an opportunity for me."
