Fast rising contender Gilbert Burns brought former Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley some rude awakening in the main event of UFC On ESPN 9 Main event on Saturday night at the Apex Center.

Woodley went into the fight after almost more than a year away from the Octagon and his return wasn't as palatable as he perceived, with Gilbert Burns pressuring and dominating him from the opening round till the end to win a unanimous decision 50-44 twice and 55-45 on the Judges scorecards.
“I’m very happy. I trained so hard for this fight. I knew I could do it. I was calling this guy out for a reason,” Burns told Daniel Cormier in his post-fight interview. “My name now has got to be the No. 1 contender. I love the champ, my training partner Kamaru Usman, but c’mon – give me the shot. I’ve got a lot of love for you, but I’m next. I want to fight for the title. If they want to make the f…

Pacquiao-Horn Fight Results Stand After Review By Five Anonymous Judges

Pacquiao-Horn Fight Results Stand After Review By Five Anonymous Judges
11/7/2017

The fight between Manny Pacquiao and Jeff Horn had been reviewed by the WBO according to demands from GAP, after the results by the judges was criticized by Fans and the Boxing World as a whole.

The results from the review, three of the judges gave the fight to Horn while one Pacquiao and one a draw, leaving the fight score unchanged.
"WBO said three of the five independent judges who reviewed the bout awarded it to Horn, one awarded it to Pacquiao and one scored a draw.

WBO president Francisco Valcarcel asked the judges, who came from different countries and remained anonymous, to assign their own scores to rounds, saying the results would be tabulated to ascertain which rounds each fighter won using an average scale based on 100, 80 and 60 percent".
"Based on the analysis, the WBO said Pacquiao won the third, eighth and ninth rounds by 100 percent, the fifth round by 80 percent and the 11th by 60 percent. Horn was given the first, sixth and 12th rounds by 100 percent, the second, fourth and seventh by 80 percent and the 10th by 60 percent".

"From the results, it can be established that Pacquiao won 5 rounds while Horn won 7 rounds," the WBO statement said.

The fight tagged the "Battle Of Brisbane",fought in front of more than 51,000 people at a rugby stadium in Brisbane, was scored 117-111 by Waleksa Roldan and 115-113 each by Chris Flores and Ramon Cerdan -- Roldan's score was the one most criticism. Pacquiao had Horn wobbling and in trouble in the ninth round, but couldn't finish him off. Horn rallied late to hold on for a points decision and remain unbeaten in 18 professional fights.

"It gives me evidence behind me that I can just use now. Instead of saying 'I think I won the fight,' now a heap of other people -- professionally -- think I won the fight," Horn told reporters in Brisbane on Tuesday as he prepared to board a flight for Los Angeles. "It's definitely nice to have it finally put on paper.

"Now just to have it clear in front of us is good."
GAB chairman Abraham Kahlil Mitra said in a statement, while welcoming the decision for the review of the fight.

"Our feeling is, if you're quiet, you'll get abused, but if you complain, they'll be careful. ... Manny is a senator, a champion, but was like wrestled there, abused by them," Mitra told The Associated Press in the Philippines' capital after the WBO confirmed it would review the scoring. "If it can be done to him, it can be done to any other Filipino boxer."
