(UFC 212) Max Holloway Dethrones Jose Aldo, Unifying Titles

Rising star Max Holloway had a great UFC 212 title fight, defeating Jose Aldo, who just regained the 145-pound belt and was hoping to make his first defense.

Backed by the Rio de Janeiro crowd, Aldo was clearly the favourite before the first round bell, Holloway pushed forward and worked to exploit openings and by the Midway point of the first round, Aldo landed some huge shots in a combo. In the final minute the Max Holloway was hit once again by the champ.

He landed a nice combination on the champ around two minutes into the second round, then landed a big right as he started to get more damage all around. Both fighters exchanged blows as Holloway raised the pace and taunted Aldo toward the end of the round.

The third round was more physical than the first two, as both fighters lost the remaining respect they had for each other. Holloway found to find his rhythm, throwing punches with a higher work rate then landed two heavy shots, which knocked down Aldo.

The Hawaiian started landed heavy rights from the top, before getting a sturdy mount, an Amazing ground work saw him take the champ’s back before going back to beating a bloodied Aldo from the top. The ref stopped the fight after deeming Aldo was not safely protecting himself but this didn't go down well with the crowd, even Aldo protested the stoppage.

Max Holloway might right now be on his way to face Conor McGregor
