Marcel Keizer Replaces Peter Bosz As Ajax New Head Coach

Marcel Keizer has been named by Ajax as their new head coach, replacing Peter Bosz with a two year deal with an option of  third..

Peter Bosz left the to head Borussia Dortmund after finishing second in the domestic league and reaching the Europa League Final, but beaten 2-0 by Manchester United.

"We had some very positive talks and I feel the club believes in me," Keizer told the club's official website. "I was ready to start the new season with Jong Ajax again, but you never know what happens in football. This is a great opportunity for me.

"I cannot wait to get started, we will have to be ready quite early due to the Champions League qualifiers.

"Our goal is to build on the way we played in 2016-17 and make it a great season where we can challenge for silverware."

The 48 year old, Marcel Keizer will be taking charge fully from July first after doing a good job last season in the second division Jong Ajax, second place in Holland's second tier last season.

"From the moment we started looking for another coach, Keizer was the most suitable candidate,'' Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar said.

"It's appropriate for Ajax to look internally for a replacement, in the past many coaches have been appointed from within their own club.

"He knows the players, the set-up and is behind the philosophy of the club. In addition, he has shown great promise last season with some excellent play."
