Andre Ward Vs Sergey Kovalev : WBA, IBF and WBO Light-Heavyweight Title Fight Preview

16/6/2017

While we all anticipate a good show down between Floyd Mayweather Vs Conor McGregor, which we know won't go down this weekend on next. Let take some time to look at this great WBA, IBF and WBO Light-Heavyweight Title Fight between Andre Ward (31-0, 15 KO) and Sergey Kovalev (30-1-1, 26 KO), going down this Saturday.

November 16, 2016, Andre Ward came back from a second round Knock down to win the then undefeated Sergey Kovalev via unanimous decision, dominating the second half of the Bout with Burt A. Clements, Glenn Trowbridge, and John McKaie all scored the first fight 114-113 in favor of Ward.

The Rematch brings in two of the most talented Boxers at 175 points, both of whom had an undefeated record before they first met in November last year. The Bout is circled around Revenge and Racism which has been present in Kovalev's comments and statements as the Rematch builds up .

Kovalev protested the scoring by the Judges in the first fight, not relenting with his opinion of the first fight's judging, will now be the  antagonistic challenger but Ward hates the idea of inputting his knock down in the fight build up

"You realise we just fought 12 rounds? Everybody wants to highlight the knock-down,"
Ward said at the rematch's press conference. "That's probably one of the most beautiful moments of my career. Did you guys see the other 10 rounds? Nobody is talking about that."

"This time...leave the excuses at home," Ward said to confirm the rematch, briefly breaking from character to engage in the sort of public warfare that he has avoided in a 31-0 career that has accounted for Carl Froch, Arthur Abraham, Mikkel Kessler and more. The second fight for Ward's WBA 'super', IBF, and WBO light-heavyweight titles, as if to poke the bear, is labelled "No Excuses".

Kovalev, whose records includes wins over Bernard Hopkins, Jean Pascal (twice) and Nathan Cleverly, replied: "He got those belts somehow. I think June 17 is going to be the day everybody's going to see the way it's supposed to be."

Andre Ward told Sky Sports News HQ : "I am done with all the canvas stuff.
"I have gotten up and it is his turn to touch the canvas now. He needs to see what that feels like.

"He landed a good shot, but it is amazing to me that people will talk about the knockdown and then just stop there. They won't talk about what happened after.

"They won't ask him 'why didn't you finish him, if you are this big puncher?'

"They haven't asked him those kinds of questions, over the years, and it has done him a disservice.

"He feels like when he hits a rough spot in his career, he can't answer a certain question. Everybody is going to give him a soft landing spot."

Concerning Kovalev's View Of Controversy In The First fight Ward Said

"It's not the first close fight in boxing.

"It was a nip-and-tuck type of fight. People are going to have opinions about it, but this is the beauty of our sport. We can run it back, and that is what we are getting ready to do.

"In my heart, I felt like I battled back and did enough to win. I closed out the last round, which is what won me the fight on two of the three judges' scorecards.

"We are getting ready to run it back and he is going to get a better version. He said he is going to be a better version this time around, so it's going to be a great fight and that's what I want.
"Let's see if he can back up the tough talk."

Concerning Kovalev's Motivation Ward Said
"We've all got something to prove," he said. "I am not resting on my laurels. We took care of business and once the rematch was imminent, the work started.

"He is not the only person that is hungry, he is not the only person that has something to defend.

"It's not about talking, you have to show people, and that is what we plan to do on June 17.
"I expect a hard, tough fight and I predict a tremendous victory. I've got to have it and I want to do it in a better fashion this time."
