(Formula One) Lewis Hamilton Beats Sebastian Vettel To The Pole In Spain

Mercedes and Ferrari have been in a very close battle for this year's title and this couldn't help but show as Lewis Hamilton made it to the pole with just 0.051 seconds ahead of Sebastian Vettel.

Lewis Hamilton lead the Q1 and Q2 while in Vettel gave him some pressure in Q3 but couldn't get the right time for a pole position, with a 0.5 second advantage over Vettel and 0.2 over his team mate Bottas.

Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen followed up the two fast cats and then came Max Verstappen, who underlined Red Bull's improvement in Spain with a time just 0.557s off Hamilton and 0.469s ahead of teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Fernando Alonso made a good day out of nothing, pushing his McLaren-Honda to sevent position despite missing the training on Friday due to brake failure.

Sergio Perez came eighth place with the updated Force India ahead of Williams' Felipe Massa and teammate Esteban Ocon while Haas' Kevin Magnussen dropped out in Q2 after failing to match Alonso's remarkable lap time in the second session
