( Football) FIFA Set To Use Hawk - Eye Review System In Remaining FIFA Competitions This Year

The Hawk-Eye Review System has been chosen by FIFA to Assist referees in three tournaments this year which include Under-20 World Cup in South Korea which starts on Saturday, Confederations Cup in Russia and the Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The British company come-out winners in a trial which involved 10 other companies with FIFA last year and this will no doubt favour Hawk-Eye for the World Cup next year.

The video review system is given a nod for four reasons which include errors in goals scored, penalties awarded, players sent off and cases of mistaken identity. The video review system still stands to be approved by the IFAB, which is a football's rule-making panel.

(VAR) Video Assistant Referees still wait to be approved for the 2018 World Cup and IFAB, still working with football leagues in that respect which could end up giving a nod to VARs working at the stadium as part of each referee's support team.
