(Europa League) Ajax Vs Lyon : Semi Final Match Preview And Predictions

Ajax will play host to Lyon in the Amsterdam Arena, as their young homegrown squad will hoping to deliver them a first Europa League Trophy in two decades.

Ajax are presently unbeaten against Ajax in their last four meetings, winning 2 with 2 draws while Ajax have been unbeaten in their last 12 European games, winning 7 and 5 draws albeit the French side Lyon will be looking forward to get a double as their Women made it to the UEFA Women's Champions League Final scheduled to hold on June 1st in Cardiff City.

The Dutch side got past Schalke 04 in the last eight despite been reduced to 10 men in the 80th minute, which Olympique Lyon edged over Besiktas in a penalty shoot out, as the Turkish Giants made an incredible comeback in the last minutes, to book a place in the last four.

Ajax are desperate for a Europa League Trophy just as Celta Vigo and Manchester United, as it will assure them of a Champions League place next season. They will be relying on their 20-year-old frame of centre-back Davinson Sanchez, who has been exceptional in the competition so far.

Team News

Ajax have lost their last two games at 90 minutes (form WWWLL) and will be weakened further by two suspensions, defender Joel Veltman who was shown a red card in the game against Schalke and full-back Nick Viergever picked up his third yellow card of the tournament to earn a ban. These suspensions will likely bring Kenny Tete and Jairo Riedewald in as replacements.

Lyon on the other hand, are having injury and fitness issues as they head to Amsterdam for the Clash, midfielder talisman Corentin Tolisso is facing a race against the clock to prove his fitness while striker Alexandre Lacazette has not played since picking up a thigh injury back in 20th April, is also doubtful.
