(Boxing) Kal Yafai Defeats Suguru Muranaka To Retain WBA World Super-Flyweight Title

Kal Yafai now (22-0, 14 KOs), defeated Japan's Suguru Muranaka (25-3-1, 8 KOs) retained his title in front of his home crowd through unanimous decision score 118-108, 119-107 and 119-107 at the Barclaycard Arena.

The 27 year old Brit took the fight to the Japanese, who had been Unbeaten in 11 years and had never fought outside his homeland till facing Yafai on Saturday. The Brit started out aggressively sending the Japanese his fast flurries of punches and in the Second Round, Muranaka took a knee, as he couldn't keep the Fight in control.


After been able to contain the Brit's impressive start, he wasn't overly troubled by Yafai's Later assaults though he wasn't able to give an impressive heat.

The Brit had a point deducted in round eight after trying to knock Muranaka out earlier in the round with a upper cut and in the 9th, it was no issue as everyone knew, it was going to head to points, as the Japanese. Muranaka showed great conditioning to withstand Yafai's late onslaught from round nine.
