( Bellator 179) Rory MacDonald Defeats Paul Daley In Bellator Debut

Rory MacDonald made fighting with Paul Daley look easy, Choking out the knockout artist in the second round after dominating the entire first round on Friday at the  SSE Arena in London.

The former UFC welterweight title contender had doubts where he will land on the Bellator Rankings but after this fight stands a No. 1 contender for the welterweight championship at Bellator 180, this will be between him and the winner of June 24's Douglas Lima vs. Lorenz Larkin matchup.

The fight started out with quick Jabs from MacDonald, before he went for an early take down, which ended up a struggle on the canvas. The second round looked more like the the first round as momentarily stand-up fights became canvas struggles but MacDonald made sure he worked his way round Daley, then went in for the choke.

MacDonald was fighting for the first time in 11 months and third time since 2015 and was handed a second straight defeat by Stephen Thompson at the UFC Fight Night 89 through unanimous decision and his third in six.
