(Champions League) Atletico Madrid Vs Leicester City : Match Preview And Predictions

Leicester City is the only surviving English team in the UEFA Champions League and on Wednesday will be facing the Spanish side Atletico Madrid again for the third time in a European competition away in Spain at the Vicente Calderón Stadium.

Atletico Madrid have been on some Winning form recently with teams like Malaga, Sevilla and Real Sociedad been victims in the last one month, they sit third behind Barcelona having made a draw from the Madrid Derby on Saturday but on Wednesday, they will be facing Leicester, whose success in the Champions League surprises everyone like their performance last season in the Premier League.

Diego Simeone has some injury issues to worry about, as keeper Miguel Moya, defender Sime Vrsaljko, midfielders Nico Gaitan, Tiago will be missing out on this clash while Augusto Fernandez and striker Kevin Gameiro who presently face fitness test are not expected to be fit for the game on Wednesday.

Leicester who now role with a Form LWWWW is an evidence of total transformation by the Craig Shakespeare regime from candidates of relegation to one of the best teams now  in the Premier League. Five players had been rested in their 4-2 loss to Everton ahead of this game which had shown the little defensive issues the team still face.

Wes Morgan will be missing for the historic clash as he is ruled out due to back injury also
Nampalys Mendy is out long term, while Wilfred Ndidi's groin complaint which might also keep him out of this clash.

The two sides had met 1997-98 Uefa Cup tie and also in 1961/1962 Cup Winners’ Cup in the past and their recent meeting had Atletico Madrid win with a 3-1 aggregate. They will now have to take this opportunity to revenge a game they thought they lost due to the officiating errors.

The host go in here as the favourites due to their performance so far in the competition and in time past but this English side so far have been impressive, taking every one by surprise. The game will be thight as the English side will love to defend more, then hit their host with a counter.

Jamie Vardy and his team mates might have one or two chances at goal but they should also keep in sight the World best player Nominee Antonio Griezmann back in their defense.
My prediction

Atletico Madrid 2-1 Leicester
