Manchester United 1-0 FC Rostov (Europa League Round Of 16 2nd Leg) : Mata Scores A Decisive Goal

Manchester United headed into the quarter finals on Thursday with a 1 Nil win over Russia side FC Rostov. A match which which saw two Manchester United players leave early due to injury but Mata 70th Minute goal was the difference between the two sides by 90 minutes.
Manchester United enjoyed a good spell of possession in the first 45 over the Russian side FC Rostov, who had a plan of defending deep then attacking United with a counter. This got the visitors totally dominated and overplayed.
Manchester United lost few chances they would have capitalized on, especially Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata had opportunities that would have had United four goals up by halftime.
The second 45, was a different ball game as the Russian side came into the game attacking, but Romero was able to pull some good saves that would have ended United's Europa League dream. After a long spell of wasted chances, a cross from Henrikh Mkhitaryan which was probably going to be wasted by Ibrahimovic was pounced on by Mata and gave United a lead.

Rostov had three shots saved by Romero at the end of the game, which included a header, a nicely taken shot and a free kick which was the last shot of the game.
Manchester United proceed to the Quarter finals to meet Besiktas, Celta Vigo, Ajax, Anderlecht, Borussia Moenchengladbach and Lyon, this making the third time United has done so over a Russian side as they have always proved stubborn for the English side.
The draw for the next level in the competition will take place on Friday but for now all roads for United lead to Relegation fighting Middlesbrough on Sunday for their third game in 7days .
