Lyon Vs Roma : UEFA Europa League Round Of 16 First Leg Match Preview And Predictions

Roma will Visit Lyon on Thursday for the Europa League first leg tie of the round of 16, a clash last witnessed 10 years ago in the Champions League Round Of 16 which saw Francesco Totti (who is still with Roma) score the opening goal and the Brazilian Mancini the second on French soil.

Roma is presently Undefeated away from home this season and with the present form the team is rolling on it will be hard for Lyon to go through the Italians easily but on the other hand Lyon have been eliminated from all domestic French Cups and since the League isn't feasible, Europa League will be their major priority and a win at home will be a perfect start for their move ahead to the quarter finals.

Lyon have faced Italian opponents in 20 UEFA games with the record: W7 D5 L8 (W3 D3 L4 at home – W4 D2 L4 in Italy) while Roma's nine encounters with French sides have ended W5 D3 L1 (W2 D3 in Rome – W3 L1 in France).

Team News

Defender Maciej Rybus and midfielder Mathieu Valbuena are expected to miss out there for Lyon while Midfield duo Radja Nainggolan and Alessandro Florenzi are doubts ahead of this clash.

Lyon in their last 5 matches played they have managed 1 wins 2 draws and 2 losses(DWDLL) while Roma in their last 5 matches played they have managed 3 wins 1 draw and 1 lose(LWDWW). The match will be a tough battle as both teams are hoping to qualify and continue to the next level in the competition.

I predict Roma to take this fixture with a goal difference.

Lyon 1-2 Roma
