Nigerian U23 Settle For Bronze At Rio Olympics 2016

The Nigerian U23 had gone a long way from the group stage making mostly wins and two losses, one at the group stage and another which cost them a gold medal or silver medal in the Rio Olympics. Captained by Mikel Obi the team had struggled through alot but finally they had to stop their gold glory as some defensive errors lead to their loss to the German U23. But yesterday the team could not just go empty so they took the bronze.

Actually,  I am proud of Mikel Obi, he has been the light in those Youngsters, played very well in the midfield,  added some maturity to their game but sincerely he could not do it alone,  I have to also appreciate the rest, though not hundred percent, they all tried.

The bronze medal match contest was a game with many goals as both teams scored above 1.5 goals each. The Nigerians scored three first before letting their guard down for their opponents who scored two, the game ended 3-2. I believe it's due to the lack of defensive discipline displayed by the Nigerian defence. Well they took the bronze this time and could not meet the feet of their Legends 20years ago.

The NFF president also  thanks them for their effort and that the win was well deserved but also added an explanation for the donation from the Japanese surgeon and the controversy behind it in the NFF website.
