The Nigerian U23 who has had a spectacular run at the Olympics yesterday tested defeat as they fell to the hands of the Columbian U23 squad yesterday ( 2-0 ), earning the Colombians a qualification ticket to the quarter final.

The Colombians made an early mark on the Nigerian team just four minutes into the game, the Nigerian team struggled through the first half creating few chances. It didn't look like the Nigerian team we had hope to see. The Colombians who came in with great intentions of winning stayed focused locking up their defense and ensuring the Nigerians had nothing to offer.

The Nigerian Coach Samson Siasia made a couple of changes to the Nigerian starting line up which included resting the goal keeper and also starting Kingsley Madu, Saliu Popoola, Aminu Umar and Ndifreke Udo which he had never done since the start of the competition.
During the match alot of changes where made by the Nigerian coach which include bringing on Imho Ezekiel, Usman Muhammed and Stanley Amerie but the team could not get their usual game, the best chance for the Nigerian side came to Oghenekaro Etebo who ballooned the chance given him by a pass from Mikel Obi

The Colombians had the second goal in the 62minute of the game with a penalty 58minutes after the first goal was score by Teofilo Gutierrez. The penalty was no mistake  as Akpeyi  the changed keeper brought down Harold Preciado inside the box and Dorlan Paton made no mistake in finishing that with a spectacular strick.

The Colombians qualified alongside Nigeria yesterday awaiting the results from group A for the quarter final fixtures.
